Chalet Bench

Our Chalet Bench is a modern twist on a Swiss classic—the stabellenbank—widely found in homes, farms and taverns. Its seat is held together by four hand-turned legs and strong joinery.

“Smartest Swiss design.”

We proudly take a stand for products with longevity, so we made the Chalet Bench to assure you can sit pretty inside any space of your home.

Create a welcoming entryway, add extra seating for family dinners or upgrade the foot of your bed.

Its solid ash seat is held together by turned legs and strong joinery.

A balance between form and function is a key principle we look to uphold when approaching any design. The tactile simplicity of our Chalet Bench is no different—staying true to this foundation by placing great emphasis on precise workmanship in joinery.

Our craftspeople's expertise in sustainable materials, simple connections and joinery enhance the architectural integrity of each and every bench—and hey, we think it looks good too.

Archetypal Alpine

Stabelle seating has been at the heart of homes, chalets and taverns in the alpine region for centuries.

The stabelle’s legs are dovetailed into a solid wooden seat without the use of glue or nails. Any weight applied to the seat gains extra stability through the slanted legs, spread apart. This interaction of forces provides long lasting durability.

The slightly conical and slender legs are carved at the end to a round pin—split in the middle. The pin is inserted into a completely pierced hole in the seat so that it is visible on the surface. In the split center of the pin, a wedge is driven so that the chair leg completely sticks inside the seat board.

The stabelle’s traditional form has a deconstructed carved backrest, which is embedded in the seatboard and wedged at the bottom.
